The Dope Vote
DOPA passed, with only 15–fifteen!–voting against it. My own representative, who is usually one of the good guy Democrats, voted for it.
Never underestimate how stupidly a politician will vote on issues of “morality.”
UPDATE: Dave King does a great job of breaking down some of the main reasons why DOPA is a stupid, damaging bill.

Dang. I was about to post that “MY congressperson, Zoe Lofgren, voted against it.” Half of which is true: She did, as did Mike Honda, another local congressperson.
The untrue half: Turns out I’m too far north; Anna Eshoo-who should know better–is my congressperson and, sigh, voted for this piece of stupidity. (That’s a euphemism for a shorter word also beginning with “s.”)
