Sailing to New Shores

If it seems like I haven’t been blogging here as much as I used to, there’s a reason for that. Frankly, I’ve become really frustrated and disillusioned with libraries. The infighting, the pettiness, the fear of change and progress–it’s all just too much for me.

So, I’m leaving libraries and library blogging. Starting soon, I’ll be working at, and blogging about, Long John Silver’s. It may sound strange, but I really think this is a good path for me, and I’m excited to be returning to the world of fast food, which I haven’t been a part of since I was an undergrad.

I’ll miss all the friends I made in libraries, but I hope you’ll all stop by and see me at my new job. (I may even be able to throw a free slice of pineapple cream cheese pie your way, if the manager isn’t around.)

UPDATE: Looks like I’m not the only one announcing a new job today. Congratulations, Michael Sauers!

  1. Hell yeah, like Wayne Coyne in reverse or something. Let us know when you set up the Fry Cook Society of the World or whatever.

  2. The world of food blogging is way overpopulated with people talking about eating things grown within 20 miles of you and minimalism and molecular gastronomy and all that. This will be a welcome change from all of that.

In what way can libraries learn from fast food?

Would you like Harry Potter with that?

  3. Wow, it will be a challenge for you. Best of luck. And if it doesn’t work out, there’s always Taco Bell….

Man: A pirate? Well, that’s hardly the image we want for Long John Silver’s!
