In his "American Novel Since 1945" course, he always included two graphic novels in the reading, <i>Watchmen</i> and one other. (My final paper for the class was on Grant Morrison's <i>Doom Patrol</i>, which I also presented about in class, arguing that <i>Watchmen</i> was good, but <i>Doom Patrol</i> was better.)
