The adventures of Joshua M. Neff, the Cartoon Goblin

The Hundred Acre Subconscious

January 17th, 2012

I just remembered that back in college, I would often describe myself by saying, “Sometimes I’m Tigger, sometimes I’m Piglet and sometimes I’m Eeyore.” It only just occurred to me that when I was describing myself that way, I was naming my depressive state (Eeyore), my anxious state (Piglet) and my mindset when I’m free of anxiety and depression (Tigger).

Gee, I wish I’d understood that back then.

Nice blog look. Reminds me of a Decemberist album… As for your shapeshifting state through c robbin’s friends, i think many might realize similar things about themselves…. Hopefully you’re feeling rather tiggy these days… Me? I’m rather like a jalopy… Feeling ever eeyorian.  Also, what’s your take on the rabbit state?

    Thanks, Leese!

I’d say Rabbit is also anxiety, but aggressive anxiety, rather than the passive anxiety of Piglet. Piglet is anxious to the point of inactivity and helplessness, whereas Rabbit pushes his anxiety on everyone around him. And I’ve definitely known some people like that.

I always keep this around for a reason. The abstract:

Somewhere at the top of the Hundred Acre Wood a little boy and his bear play. On the surface it is an innocent world, but on closer examination by our group of experts we find a forest where neurodevelopmental and psychosocial problems go unrecognized and untreated.

Jacob, that’s brilliant! Thanks for the link!

Analyzing Piglet as Generalized Anxiety pretty much nails it (and me). Wonderful!

I am totes Rabbit when I’m wound up – UR DOIN IT RONG! My happy state is a lot more like a mix of Kanga, Owl and Pooh – a maternal know-it-all who wants to nom. :P

    That sounds about right, Julie.
