The Four Seasons

A little joke popped into my head the other day, and I tweeted:

I got some very clever responses I wasn’t expecting (I never really expect people to respond to my jokes and I’m always pleasantly surprised when people get them and reply in kind), and a friend of mine started riffing back and forth with me until we came up with a show that both of us were really excited about and would seriously watch on TV.

THE FOUR SEASONS

This will be a dramedy that runs for four television seasons, a complete story with a beginning, middle, and end. Each TV season will correspond thematically with the four seasons of the year. Season one will be summer, season two will be fall, season three will be winter, and season four will be spring. The first and last seasons will play up more comedy, while the middle two seasons will weigh more towards drama.

The series centers around Sherry, a tall, redheaded trans woman who is fiercely independent and has recently been promoted to manager of a Four Seasons hotel. (I see Jamie Clayton playing Sherry. With her hair dyed red, of course.) As a new manager, her life is hectic and energetic, but as she settles into her position, she opens up to getting into a relationship–and then meets a gorgeous young woman who is applying to be a maid, despite having no real experience. There’s an instant, hot spark between the two, and they quickly fall into a passionate relationship. In the second season of the series, Sherry and her girlfriend start getting settled in their relationship. The passion cools into something more stable, but less exciting, and neither of them feels ready for this. The second season ends with them breaking up, and when the third season begins, Sherry is in a lonely, depressive slump. For much of the season, she struggles with her job and with her friendships. And then she meets a young man, an artist, who has been dealing with his own depression and is finally starting to come out of it. He and Sherry become friends, and that friendship grows into a cautious, shy romance by the end of the season. The fourth and final season of the show has Sherry reclaiming her energy and rebuilding her life. Her relationship with her boyfriend gets more passionate and exciting. And then her ex-girlfriend comes back into her life, and Sherry is torn between her ex and her current lover. The series ends with Sherry getting recognition for her work and with Sherry getting back together with her girlfriend while also staying with her boyfriend, the three of them living happily ever after.

So, what network would produce a show like this? And who will help get this on the air?
